Smile Card

Hi friends!  Summer still has it's grip on my corner of the world.  How I long for cooler temperatures!  This card about sums up how I feel.

When I saw this My Besties stamp, Pouting Prudence, I just had to have it.  I colored it with Copic markers to match the Tim Holtz Correspondence papers I used.  Each layer was matted with dark blue cardstock.  The lace and trims are from my stash.  Flowers and other embellishments are from Recollections.

Well, that's it for me today.  I am looking forward to some quiet time today.  Thank you for all the sweet comments on my previous post.  One thing I want to mention is that the paper doll figure by Tim Holtz that I used on last week's card does not have any tulle added to it.  It is strictly a photo.  It is, however, so realistic that it does look 3-D.

Enjoy the week ahead!

Dance

Hi there, friends!  I guess I spoke too soon.  In my last post, I mentioned we were having the most glorious fall weather.  Well, that was quickly replaced this past week with warm, humid weather.  Air conditioning is back on.  Hopefully, though, fall will return soon!

Today's card was made with pretty papers from Prima.  I believe they are from Nature's Garden.  Each layer was inked and distressed.  A piece of cheesecloth and cardboard was placed between the two layers.  Various trims were placed across the bottom of the card.  I wanted to showcase the sweet Tim Holtz paper doll ballerina so I placed her on a glittered frame with Prima and Recollections flowers as well as a wooden rose to the side.  I tucked an assortment of beads inside of the frame.  The "dance" bead was framed with flatback pink pearls.  A tulle bow, rhinestones, and splatters of gesso finish it off.

This card was so much fun to make.  I think I am in love with paint splatters now!  I thought the tulle on the card fit perfect with the ballerina's tulle skirt.

Well, that's all for me today.  I hope you have an enjoyable Sunday and a wonderful week ahead.  Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and for your sweet comments.

The Best Things in Life Just Happen

Hi there.  With the Fall season fast approaching, I thought I would share one last card I made this summer before I switch to more seasonal crafting.

This card was made for my parents' anniversary.  My mother prefers more simple cards, so she was really quite happy with this one.  The paper, sentiment card, flowers and stickers are from Recollections.  The pretty ornate frame, which I feel really makes this card, was a gift.  I don't know who makes this particular die but I would love to have it in my collection!

The sentiment card was framed with lace from my stash.  A satin bow was tucked into the flower cluster.

We have had the most wonderful weather this past week with crisp days and nights.  It makes me so happy to have a change from the heat and humidity of summer.

Thank you so much for taking time to visit my blog and also for your kind comments.  I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Mixed Media Tag

Hi friends!  It's been a rainy couple of days here but, thank goodness, nothing like the poor people in Texas have been dealing with.  I, for one, am so happy that September is here!  That means we're close to the beautiful season of Fall and all that it brings--chilly days, scents of the season, comfort foods, nesting, etc.

The tag I'm sharing today is one of my favorites so far.  I began with a manila tag, a Tim Holtz stencil and modeling paste.  Next, I tore and distressed a couple of sheets of paper and adhered them with foam tape.  The perforations on the torn papers that mimic stitching were made with a quilting tool.  You will also notice a bit of Prima lace peeking out from under the papers.  The flowers are Prima with Prima diecut leaves.  A wooden tag is tucked into the flower cluster along with a couple of hemp bows.  The pretty dimensional butterfly is from Recollections.  A seam binding and lace tie with a vintage button was added to the top.  Using a mixture of gesso and water, I created some splatters on the tag as a finishing touch.

This tag was so easy and fun to make.  If you click on each photo, you can view a larger image.  I recently made another one using the same steps but different product which I will share another time.

Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and also your kind comments.  I hope the week ahead is a wonderful one for all.
